Google rumoured to have its own Android phone
According to TheStreet, Google, the owner of Android OS, is looking to have its own Android phone by end of the year. The phone will be unlocked from any of the operators, and it will be sold through retailers, instead of operators.
At the moment, the Android phones are made by smartphone manufacturers, like HTC and Samsung. The channels to sell the phone will be under the agreement between the manufacturers and the operators. With Google’s move to manufacture its own phone, Google will have the choice to select its own channels. And according to the rumours, Google will not sell the phones through operators, and thus the phones will be unlocked from all operators.
This is certainly a good news to countries that operators sell phones with SIM-locked. Consumers will have another choice to enjoy Android phones, free from operators’ contract.
