HTC CEO syas they could have made HD2 an Android phone, but they have to take care of WinMo

hd2-2During a recent interview with Forbes, Taiwan, HTC CEO Peter Chou says “Technically, we could make the HD2 an Android phone, but I have to take care of Windows Mobile.”  He also admits “Windows Mobile innovation has been a little slow and interest in Windows Mobile phones has been declining” and “We’re working hard on these kinds of products to get excitement about Windows Mobile back.”

HTC is trying to seperate the 2 platform to have their own distinct look and features.  We won’t be getting an HD2 liked Android phone, but  our hope for a Snapdragon based Android phone from HTC (the Dragon) may still alive.

While being asked for the recent multi-million rebranding campaign, Peter Chou expresses that the company need to be a “premium, top-tier brand” to compete with brands like Apple and Nokia.

He also states that the company direction now is to make lesser models of phones and concentrating on selling more units per model.
