Nokia sues Apple for infringement of GSM, UMTS and WLAN patents
Nokia, the mobile phone giant, has just hit Apple with a patent infringment lawsuit.
Nokia claims that “all iPhones models shipped” infringe on ten of Espoo’s patents relating to GSM, UMTS, and WiFi. According to Nokia’s press release, it has already successfully entered into license agreements including these patents with approximately 40 companies, “virtually all the leading mobile device vendors,” and Apple’s refused to agree to “appropriate” license terms.
We shall keep our eyes on this law suite and it will be interesting to know the outcome and the effects on Apple and the industry.
