Google Maps Navigation now available for Android 1.6
When the Google Maps Navigation beta was launched few weeks back, it was only for Android 2.0 devices. Good news for other Android users, Google has just made it available for the Android 1.6 devices. Sadly, Android 1.5 devices are not supported at this moment.
Google Maps Navigation is an enhanced Google Maps version that supports turn-by-turn voice guidence for mobile devices. It is at the moment supporting American maps only. Combined with Street Views and Satellite Views, the Google Maps Navigation has posted a serious the navigation device providers like TomTom and Garmin.
If you are not a Android 1.6 user and outside of America, you are not out of luck yet. You can try an unofficial version from XDA-Developers here.
