Nokia exec talks about Ovi platform
During a recent interview with CNet, Niklas Savander, executive VP of Services at Nokia, talks about the future of the Ovi store and Nokia’s plans to steal back market share in America.
“The Finnish device maker says it’s fighting back with its own cool phones and an Internet services platform called Ovi that will allow consumers to buy digital content, such as music and videos, get maps for navigation service, and manage contacts and photo files online.”
However, Niklas admits to Nokia’s past shortfallings, like poor user experience and lack of integration between services. He also hints at what Nokia is doing to rectify them. And that includes re-focusing on US market and co-branding Ovi Market with AT&T later this year..
The Ovi storefront is now available in eight countries: Australia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Spain, and the United Kingdom. When it is made available to more countries, we will see whether Nokia’s effort will bring them back the market.
