Google: Nexus One is a “profitable business” and Android Market has 38000 apps now
According to Google’s VP of engineering, Jeff Huber, “It (Nexus One) is a profitable business for us. … We are driving the business to be a profitable business from the get-go.”
And he is not disclosing the number of Nexus sold: “We’re not disclosing the specific number … We are very happy with the device uptake and the kind of impact that it’s had across the industry.”
At the moment, consumers can only buy Nexus One from Google and Huber refused to answer if Google had any plans to change its sales model for the Nexus One.
And according to Hubber, the Android Market has now 38,000 apps. However, we all know there are good numbers of themes, ringtones, etc and those are should not be qualified as “apps”.
