Rumours: Details of Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) leaks
Many of us are still waiting for Froyo (Android 2.2) and even Eclair (Android 2.1). Some of the details of the next generation Android – The Gingerbread, have already been leaked.
It is said that the Gingerbread will have a major UI overhaul. According to the rumour, it will follow the 3D UI design of the current gallery app. With higher demand of the UI requirement, it is said that Google will put a minimum hardware requirement for Android 3.0 devices:
- It must have a CPU clocked at 1GHz or higher
- It must have 512MB or more of RAM
- It must have a screen sized 3.5-inches or higher
That means some of the devices out in the market now will not be able to get Gingerbread. For lower specs devices, Android 2.2 will be the highest version of Android they can go. ”Gingerbreaded” Android devices will be considered as another class of Android devices.
The rumour states that Gingerbread will be released in October and the first handset will be out just before Christmas for celebration.
