Windows phone 7 has been released to manufacturing, ready to roll
Sep 2nd
About half a year after it was first revealed by Microsoft, Windows Phone 7 is finally ready to roll now. It has just been announced by Microsoft that it has reached Gold status and has been released to manufacturing (RTM) for final testing before releasing their Windows Phone 7 devices. So we should be able to see the Windows Phone 7 devices in the market soon.
Terry Myerson from Microsoft has some stories to tell for the development of Windows Phone 7:
“Today is the day that the Windows Phone team has been driving towards, and we’re very excited to say that we’ve reached the biggest milestone for our internal team – the release to manufacturing (RTM) of Windows Phone 7! While the final integration of Windows Phone 7 with our partners’ hardware, software, and networks is underway, the work of our internal engineering team is largely complete.
Windows Phone 7 is the most thoroughly tested mobile platform Microsoft has ever released. We had nearly ten thousand devices running automated tests daily, over a half million hours of active self-hosting use, over three and a half million hours of stress test passes, and eight and a half million hours of fully automated test passes. We’ve had thousands of independent software vendors and early adopters testing our software and giving us great feedback. We are ready.
I last posted on this blog when we reached the Technical Preview milestone, and we’ve received some great feedback since then which we’ve been able to respond to and improve the smart design throughout the OS. For example, folks loved the Facebook integration in the People Hub, but they also wanted ways to filter their contacts so only the Facebook friends they really know will show up in their contact list – we’ve added support for that. We’ve also made it easy to “like” a post right from the People Hub, or quickly post a message to someone’s Facebook wall directly.
This has been one of the most incredible product development efforts I’ve ever been a part of. Today’s milestone is exciting not just because of what we’ll deliver to customers later this year, but how it sets us up for success over the long term in the mobile space… we’re really just getting started.”

XBox Live launch titles for Windows Phone 7 reveals
Aug 18th
Microsoft has been working hard with game developers to bring titles to its Windows Phone 7 for launching. Mobile gaming will be one of the key factors contributing to the success of Windows Phone 7.
And Microsoft has just revealed some 60 launch titles for the Windows Phone 7 Xbox Live platform. And there are quite a number of interesting titles. Among them, Castlevania, Halo: Waypoint, Star Wars, Crackdown, and Guitar Hero are just some of the games that will be in the Marketplace at launch. And the number is growing.
Besides these titles, Microsoft also shows off the Xbox Live integration with Windows Phone 7, which is not much of differences with its big brother, XBox. There should be a good news for many Xbox gamers.
Engadget has a pretty good look at the platform, follow here to view it.
Jailbreak you iPhone 4 now!
Aug 2nd
It takes a while for the Dev team to jailbreak the iPhone 4. However, the wait is worthwhile. You can easily jailbreak your iPhone 4 easily by launching your Safari browser in your iPhone 4 and go to this site: http://www.jailbreakme.com.
Why jailbreak you iPhone? If you want to install softwares and enhancements that are not allowed into Appstore, this is the solution. We can have things like previewing your SMS and Emails in the lock screen, turn Bluetooth and wifi on and off by tapping on the notification bar, and many other cool things that are omitted by the standard iOS.
Well, pick up you iPhone 4 now (if you have one) and jailbreak it now.

HTC has started to push Froyo update to Desire and other phones
Aug 1st
It seems like HTC has finally please a lot of its customers. Its development team is now fast enough to catch up with the latest Android release.
HTC is now able to get its phones, like Desire, to run the latest Android release (Froyo) just less then 2 months after Google released it. And HTC has started to roll out the Froyo update to Desire users.
This is in fact a very good news to many people. I did not expect HTC to be a first one to update their phones to Froyo, given its track record.
I do hope HTC can keep up with this momentum and hopefully we will see its Gingerbread (Android 3.0) phones coming to the market soon after Google release it at the end of the end.
iPhone 4 launches in Singapore – Singtel, M1 and Starhub
Aug 1st
iPhone 4 has been launched in Singapore over this weekend, and it is “available” from all 3 operators in Singapore – Singtel, M1 and Starhub.
However, the stock of iPhone was quickly snatched by thousands of iPhone fans within a few hours. All three operators require the customers to pre-register with them in order to get the new iPhone 4 from them. For example, Singtel requires customer to book an appointment with them before the customers come to get one during the launch event. However, many complained that the web site for registration was unresponsive and all the appointments were booked within a few hours.
Well, I guess most of us will still have to wait for more stock to come.
The 16Gb iPhone 4 can be yours for free if you sign up for a 2 years plan with around SGD98 per month.
Samsung Galaxy Beam coming to Starhub Singapore from 17 July
Jul 9th
The world first Android phone with built-in pico projector, Samsung Galaxy Beam (i8520) is coming to Singapore’s operator, Starhub. And Singapore will become the first country to sell this phone.
Galaxy Beam runs Android 2.1 and features 3G support, a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen (WVGA), TouchWiz UI 3.0, Social Hub, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Allshare (DLNA), 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash, front facing VGA camera, GPS and 1800mAh battery. There is no mention of the speed of the processor but we believe it has an 800MHz processor or faster Hummingbird processor like the Galaxy S.
If you are interested to look at the phone, it will be available for viewing in some of the selected shop starting from 10 July. The price of the phone will be from SGD0 for higher and SGD398 for a lower plan (SGD38/month).

Microsoft kills KIN phones
Jul 1st
What a surprise! Just a few months after Microsoft announced the KIN phones, they are killed by Microsoft Now.
According to the news, the existing KIN phone team will be merged into the Windows Phone 7 team. According to Microsoft’s official statement:
“We have made the decision to focus exclusively on Windows Phone 7 and we will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned. Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones.”
I thought the KIN phones are doing quite well but some rumours stated the sales of the phones had not been good.
Good bye, KIN, although we have never met.
