I will be on holiday

holidayDear all readers of Phonebeez,

Thank you for supporting my blog as I am trying to bring you the latest news and information of mobile phone market to you daily.

For your information, I will be having a long holiday starting tomorrow for about a week.  As I might not have Internet access and sufficient time to update the blog daily, the information added to the blog might not be as much as it is at the moment.

I will resume the level of activities when I am back from my holiday.  For the moment, I wish you all an early merry Christmas and a happy new year ahead.

Thanks.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 delayed till early 2010

x2For those who have been waiting for the Sony Ericsson Xpera X2, here is another bad news from the Swedish manufacturer:  the phone won’t be released until early next year.  So guys, you can plan to buy another phone for your Christmas now.

According to Brighthand:

Sony Ericsson says that it is still working to fix some bugs in this smartphone’s system software. It’s optimizing it to extend the battery life and improve the performance.

As the company said in a statement on its Xperia-related blog, “We want to be sure that when we ship this it is as good as it should be.”

Well, we certainly appreaciate Sony Ericsson’s effort to release a polished device.  However, we’d like them to deliver promises on time as well.

And this could mean the Xperia X10 might be released earlier than the X2.  However, by looking at the history and also there is  no confirmation from Sony Ericsson, X10 could be the next victim of late release.

In-app purchase for iPhone free apps now possible

apple-logoApple had just sent an email to the iPhone developers:

In App Purchase is being rapidly adopted by developers in their paid apps. Now you can use In App Purchase in your free apps to sell content, subscriptions, and digital services.
You can also simplify your development by creating a single version of your app that uses In App Purchase to unlock additional functionality, eliminating the need to create Lite versions of your app. Using In App Purchase in your app can also help combat some of the problems of software piracy by allowing you to verify In App Purchases.

By allowing this, developers are able to create free / lite / demo software for users to download from App Store.  If users like the software, they can purchase it from within the software for a full version (activate it).  They do not need to pay and download another full version from the App Store again.

Good news for the iPhone developers and users.
