Sure, it looks like the Android 2.2 with the TouchWiz 3.0, but the underlying OS is Bada – the mobile OS created by Samsung.

Specs wise, the phone will come with a 3.2 Super AMOLED screen, 802.11n and a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash.  The Bada OS is upgraded to 1.1.  There is no price information at the moment.

According to the news, the existing KIN phone team will be merged into the Windows Phone 7 team.  According to Microsoft’s official statement:

“We have made the decision to focus exclusively on Windows Phone 7 and we will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned. Additionally, we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. We will continue to work with Verizon in the U.S. to sell current KIN phones.”

I thought the KIN phones are doing quite well but some rumours stated the sales of the phones had not been good.

Engadget has just reviewed the 2 new devices from Microsoft.  The conclusion is no so encouraging.  Basically there are so many other devices in the market that do the jobs equally well (if not better) and cost less.  Unless you really want to own a Microsoft phone

The current OS, Azingo Mobile 2.0, already includes a comprehensive application suite including a Webkit-based browser, web runtime, Flash runtime, and full developer tools.

Despite the strong relationship with Google, by producing lots of Android based phone, Motorola is looking beyond to have its own mobile operating system.

According to Sanjay Jha, Co-CEO of Motorola: “I’ve always felt that owning your OS is important, provided you have an ecosystem, you have all the services and you have an ability and the scale to execute on keeping that OS at the leading edge. And I continue to believe that at some point, if we have all of those attributes, that owning our own OS will be a very important thing.”

And we may see new type of phones coming from Motorola in the future.

The GW990 will be coming with a 4.8-inch panoramic widescreen display (with a 1020 x 480 resolution), HD Video, 3D gaming, aGPS, WiFi, 1850mAh battery, digital compass, HSPA radio, 5 megapixel camera, 16Gb of built in flash memory and MicroSD expansion slot.

LG is layering their S-Class inteface on top of the Moblin so there is not much of excitement over here.  But because of its huge screen, it can show 3 panels in one screen without feeling too many things on the screen (see the image).

This is something to look forward to in the second half of the year.

There is a leaked information that the upcoming Samsung Bada phone (S8200) will be coming with a very high end specs that will match the just-released Google Nexus One.

According to the information, the S8200 is coming with:

• 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen displays
• 1GHz Snapdragon processors
• HSPA
• Wi-Fi
• GPS
• 5MP autofocus camera

This is the first HTC phone that does not use any smartphone OS from the market like Windows Mobile and Android.  In fact, it is based on Brew Mobile Platform from Qualcomm.

It has a 300Mhz CPU (huh?!). The specs include a 2.8″ QVGA touch-screen, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and single-band 3G/HSDPA, 3 megapixel fixed-focus camera with flash, Bluetooth 2.0 and microSD expansion.

The phone does come with “HTC Scenes” which reflect your mood like mode for relaxing, for work and so on. With Sense, you will get Facebook updates as well. Texts and emails are all brought into the “Scenes” and you can browse the web in both portrait and landscape modes.

This will be a low end entry device from HTC targetting for people who are not comfortable with smartphones that can do so many things (and run other apps) but wish to have a cool and nice looking phone to handle daily tasks.

Not much is known about the ‘Robyn’ but the SE-Blog did say it is to have “a Touchscreen display, 5mp camera (with AF), 3.5 mm audio jack, USB connector, HSPA, WLAN”.

Well I do not what Sony Ericsson is up to now.  But I do know the Xperia X2 (WinMo 6.5) is far behind schedule and I am not sure what would happen to the Xperia X10 (Android).

The screenshots confirms Bada will have a finger friendly UI that is optimized for finger touch.  However, the author is saying that the Bada will not support multitasking.  That means it will only run one user application at a time.  You have the quit the current running application in order to launch another one, just like iPhone.

They look like a mixture of WebOS, Android, and iPhone.  And it make us wondering why Samsung is interested to develop a whole new platform for their mobile devices.  I guess the South Korean giant might want to have full control of their mobile platform and might have some great ideas that are not found in the existing platforms.  Well, we will see what are the big ideas behind Bada during the first commercial release of the platform.

The event was mainly targetted at developers and investors.  And there is no phone to show nor direct answer regarding the hardware.  It is only mentioned that the Bada phone will be coming during the first half of 2010.

Samsung did bring in representatives of five strong Bada app partners: Twitter, Capcom, EA, Gameloft and Blockbuster. And it seems like mobile gaming is high up on Bada’s agenda. And also the Bada phones will have a strong integration with SNS (social networking services).
