HTC Desire ROM brings Sense to Google Nexus One
Feb 18th
I expected this but not so soon. The hackers don’t sleep, do they? Just shortly after HTC demoed the HTC Desire with Android 2.1 and Sense, it is quickly ported to Google Nexus One and shown off to the world.
The fast port could due to the fact that the hardwares of Nexus One and Desire are very similar. The moder from Modaco is able to load the ROM extracted from HTC Desire to Nexus One with just a few modifications. Most of the things work now with some needed more work.
With these moders around, we should be expecting a ROM with HTC Sense to be available soon from the community.
How excited!

New HTC Sense on Android 2.1 comes with pinch-to-zoom on home screen
Feb 11th
You might be wondering what are the new features that the new HTC Sense on Android 2.1 may get. And here we have a nice video showing a good implementation of multitouch – pinch-to-zoom on the home screen and you will get all the home panel screen arranged in a 2-3-2 pattern. And you just tab on anyone of them to go straight to the panel. It looks like a nicer implementation of Nexus One’s long press on the bottom screen to get the 5 panels.
Below is the video demonstrating the new feature. You may want to skip to 6:60 mark as the front part of the video is showing the long startup and initial setup of the phone.

Motorola DROID to get Android 2.1 upgrade by this week
Feb 9th
This is earlier than expected, Motorola has officially mentioned in its Facebook page that DROID will get the Android 2.1 treatment by this week.
Here is the scoop and note that there are some differences compared to the Android 2.1 of Nexus One:
- It looks like it’ll be based off the Android2.1-update1 build that Google put out last week on the Nexus One.
- So do expect multitouch in the browser, to go along with the pinch-to-zoom that was enabled on the Droid for Google Maps just last week.
- Google Goggles will be included in the ROM by default.
- The Droid’s home screen remains as is – it still uses the app drawer
- No live wallpapers.
- The news and weather widget from the Nexus One will be included
I am wondering whether the upgrade will be rolled out to MILESTONE users at the same time. Nevertheless, DROID users, enjoy the upgrade and join the world of Android 2.1.
