Samsung Galaxy Beam coming to Starhub Singapore from 17 July

The world first Android phone with built-in pico projector, Samsung Galaxy Beam (i8520) is coming to Singapore’s operator, Starhub. And Singapore will become the first country to sell this phone.
Galaxy Beam runs Android 2.1 and features 3G support, a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen (WVGA), TouchWiz UI 3.0, Social Hub, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Allshare (DLNA), 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash, front facing VGA camera, GPS and 1800mAh battery. There is no mention of the speed of the processor but we believe it has an 800MHz processor or faster Hummingbird processor like the Galaxy S.
If you are interested to look at the phone, it will be available for viewing in some of the selected shop starting from 10 July. The price of the phone will be from SGD0 for higher and SGD398 for a lower plan (SGD38/month).

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini on sales now in Singapore

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini is available now in Singapore.
SingtelShop is selling it online at the moment and for a SGD39 plan, you can get it for free.
The new phone from Sony Ericsson has a small form factor and it is targeted at ladies. It has a QVGA (240×320 pixels) with a size of 83.0 x 50.0 x 16.0 mm. It is 88g of weight. It has a 5MP camera, wifi, FM radio, Bluetooth and aGPS. Software wise, it is running Android 2.1 and has the Timescape application from Sony Ericsson.

HTC starts to push Android 2.1 (EClair) OTA!

Finally, HTC has announced at it’s Chinese Pluck account that Android 2.1 update for HTC Hero is being pushed out on 4th of June.
The translation of the announcement:
“From 4th of June, HTC Hero will start receiving OTA update. The main new function is Android 2.1 upgrade.”
Wow, a brand new HTC Hero, finally. However, it is not Froyo
Asia users should been getting the update by now. Anyone?
HTC Hero Android 2.1 update delayed again to June, HTC says sorry

For those HTC Hero owners who are waiting for the Android 2.1 upgrade from HTC will be disappointed again, HTC is delaying the upgrade one more time to June.
An official statement from HTC representative:
“The integration of Eclair on the HTC Hero took longer to develop than anticipated and we apologise for this delay.
We are committed to meeting our customers’ demand for this update.”
Do we need wait till the FroYo is released and have an outdated OS again?

HTC Hero expected to get Android 2.1 upgrade in Taiwan on 26 April

Have you been waiting for this, HTC Hero owners? According to Engadget Chinese that HTC has announced to release the Android 2.1 for HTC Hero in Taiwan on 26 April.
How about the rest of the world? From the passed experience, Asia should get the upgrade shortly after Taiwan’s release. So we are expecting to get the upgrade in Singapore in May.

Google Earth has come to Android

After several delays, the Google has finally come to Android devices. It is now available in the market. However, it is for Nexus One only but will be available for most of the Android 2.1 devices later.
It is a huge application. The download takes about 5Mb and it will be blown up to about 22Mb after install. There are a number of layers available for Google Earth, including Places, Businesses, Panoramio, Wikipedia, Roads, Borders and Labels, and Terrain.
