Dell officially announces Streak, the Android device

Dell has officially announced Streak, the first Android device from Dell.
Here is the specs:
- 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor
- 5-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen
- 5-megapixel camera with LED Flash
- 16GB internal memory with microSD support
- Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.1
- 7.2 Mbps HSDPA
- launching with Android 1.6, update to Android 2.2 by end of the year
It will be available in U.K. in early June and US will follow later. However, the price is no announced yet.

Dell Mini 5 teased by Michael Dell

Some of you are waiting for Dell to release its much anticipated Android based MID, Mini 5 (Snapdragon? 5MP camera?). However, until now not much information has been released by Dell. Even Michael Dell himself teased TechCrunch with it recently, saying nothing more than “it’ll be out in a couple months.” Just look at the video below.
Dell plans to setup a communications divison

Accordingly to Wall Street Journal, Dell‘s mini 3i is just their first step to the mobile market. And in fact, Dell is planning to setup a new mobile communications group to handle all mobile device business.
Current consumer division head and former Motorola exec Ron Garriques will take charge of the new group.
So expect to see more involvement of Dell in the mobile communications market and more Dell phones coming.

Dell Mini 3i Android to be available in China end of November

In case you have forgotten, the press release is issued to remind you that the Dell Mini 3i will be available in China by the end of the month. It means latest by next week, China users will have their hands on the first Android phone from Dell.
Dell is definitely after the huge mobile market that China has. Imagine the 500 million mobile users, that’s a largest market you can get on earth.
The phone has 640×360 3.5 inch screen, Bluetooth, GPS and a micro SD expansion slot but it has no 3G connectivity and wifi. It runs an Android based open source OS called OPhone.

Dell Mini 3i unboxed in China

The bloggers in China, has got their hands on the Dell Mini 3i, the OMS based smarphone from Dell and to be sold by China Mobile.
OMS is a platform based on Android. On the retail box, Dell is calling it the smallest Dell ever. The Mini 3i comes with a capacitive touch screen that supports multi-touch and a special stylus that is designed for the capacitive touch screen. We have heard before that HTC is working on a similar technology but it seems like Dell is ahead of them.
There is no 3.5mm audio port but the package does come with a miniUSB to 3.5mm port adapter in case you are not happy with the miniUSB headset that comes with it.

Meet Streak, Dell’s 5-inch Android based MID

After the confirmation from Dell‘s CEO Michael Dell, we know Dell is not going to stop just at the China (the Dell mini 3i). We now have a leaked video showing Dell’s next Android based device, Streak (its code name). This device has a 5 inches screen, with 800x480 in resolution. It is also packed with 3G, wifi, dual LED flash, micro SD card slot. The video shows a prototype device and the final product could look a lot different. But anyway, it gives us ideas of how the Dell Android based MID could be.
