At the moment, consumers can only buy Nexus One from Google and Huber refused to answer if Google had any plans to change its sales model for the Nexus One.

And according to Hubber, the Android Market has now 38,000 apps. However, we all know there are good numbers of themes, ringtones, etc and those are should not be qualified as “apps”.

Open daily from 7:00 am EST to 10:00 pm EST. You can call the number to check on your existing order and status. For the Nexus One owners, call the number for technical support. An unnamed Google spokesperson claims that “live phone support from Google, combined with an optimized on-line support experience, enables a superior Nexus One customer experience.”

From now, you do not need to search through the forums and online FAQs to find answers for your problem. And hopefully the people answering the calls in Google are well-trained to help you. I have not tried yet, let me know what you think if you have tried.

Wondering how Google’s Nexus One is performing during its first month in the market? Well, according to Flurry, Google sold 80,000 units of Nexus One in first month. That’s a miserably low figure compared to many other smartphones like Apple’s iPhone and Motorola’s DROID. But if we look at the brighter side, the first month sales figure of Nexus One is 4 times of the first week figure where there rest were just double

Was that an experiment from Google to test whether direct web marketing will work for a mobile phone? Apparently it works for geeks but not the normal consumers. And Google is moving forward to spend money on TV commercial to gain more awareness of Nexus One. May be Google should learn from Apple.

I am sure the figure will improve. Google is doing quite a number of things at the moment, like adding pinch-and-zoom support and working with more operators to subsidize the phone. And we shall look at the figure again few months later.

According to Google, the some of the apps have been enhanced also, not only the 3G fix that has been included into the OTA update:

Google Goggles: this mobile application will now be available directly on your device by launching it from your All Apps menu. Just use your Nexus One camera to start searching the web

Google Maps: the Maps application with be updated to a new version, Google Maps 3.4, which will include:

* Starred items synchronized with maps.google.com – access your favorite places from your phone or computer
* Search suggestions from your personal maps.google.com history – makes it easy to search for places you’ve searched for before
* Night mode in Google Maps Navigation – automatically changes your screen at night for easier viewing and driving

Pinch-to-zoom functionality: devices will now include a new pinch-to-zoom mechanism in the phone’s Browser, Gallery and Maps applications

3G connectivity: we will provide a general fix to help improve 3G connectivity on some Nexus One phones

Has Google finally resolved the patent issue of pinch0to-zoom (by paying somebody?!). Nevertheless, this update really gives the functionality that many people have been waiting for.

You should receive the update notification on your phone these few days. So don’t forget to check your phone regularly. If you can’t wait, there is a way to do it manually, check it out here.

You can use the dock to charge your Nexus One or use it as a night stand. Just drop your phone in the Desktop Dock, and the Clock app launches automatically. With the Clock app, you can:

Check the local time and weather

Set and clear alarms

Watch a slideshow of your photos

Play music

Dim your phone’s display for nighttime use

There is Bluetooth connectivity built into the dock. It is used for streaming the audio to the dock from your Nexus One. The 3.5mm audio jack on the dock will then transmit the audio via the 3.5mm-to-RCA audio cable to the external audio system.

Order yours from Google site now.

Android is a piece os OS that is still being worked on and improved by Google over time. At this moment, there are still some missing parts and bugs that make it not complete (and enhancements are needed), at least from my perspective.

Microsoft ActiveSync is supported, but there is no calendar sync. You etither install a third party calendar sync software or sync your Exchange calendar to Google Calendar and get it synced to your Nexus One.

There is no signature setting in Email accounts other than gmail. This is serious as I have to key in signature manually every time I send a email from my corporate account.

Stopping auto-sync for emails does not stop the auto email downloading from Exchange account. I still get corporate email at night (and the notification also) after I turn it off and sleep.

No native tethering support. I would like to make use of my data subcription. If I have a notebook and I am outside, I want to use my Nexus One as a data modem and access the Internet from my notebook. Curently, you have to root the phone to get the 3rd party tethering software to run.

The phone dialing app is too simple. I would like to have a T9 dialing panel.

Social networking integration to Facebook and other sites are not really completed and buggy.

It does not have a nice media interface and media sync solution like iTunes from Apple.

Those “problems” apart, I do like the speedy interface (because of the Snapdragon) that make using the phone a joyful thing. Apps are being launched quickly and switching being apps is fast.

The live wallpapers are fun to use. It really make your desktop look nice. However, it does drain the battery faster.

I am a Singtel (Singapore) subscriber and I have no problem using the phone with the network. The data connection with Singtel is quite stable. Most of the time I am on 3G speed. A speed test shows the download speed can go up to more than 4Mps. Although the there are ocassion drops of data connection to GRPS speed, but most of the time it is at 3G speed.

The voice is clear when making a voice call. I guess it has something to do with the noise cancellation mic also. Google voice is not available in Singapore and thus I am not able to test that.

The new 3D gallery is a joy to use. The first time I used it, I felt it looked like the Cooliris add-on of my Firefox on my PC. And those libraries files found in the device confirms the gallery indeed uses the Cooliris engine to give the nice 3D touch. It is fun to use and if Google can make the rest of the native apps look like it…

The voice regonition engine isn’t really working for us. We speak with Singapore slang. Unless I try to speak like an American, most of the time I get less than 50% of accuracy. It is a nice add-on to the phone, but we really need to sound like an American to make it work nicely

I miss my HTC Hero a little bit for its Sense interface. However, the speed of the Nexus One really make me in love with it. Its user interface still has a distance with iPhone for the friendliness and usefulness. However, its true multitasking capability is really what I am after.
