HTC has not been able to keep up with the pace with Google’s Android releases for the pass few devices.  We waited for more than half a year for them to bring Eclair (Android 2.1) to Hero and other devices.  Will HTC be so qucik this time for Froyo?

Well, I certainly hope that HTC will do their best to bring the latest OS from Google to their devices to enjoy all the goodies that Google has brought to Nexus One.

HTC Legend is widely considered as the successor of the successful HTC Hero.  It has a similar form factor with the Hero with some enhancements.  The Legend is covered by Aluminium casing and it is now using a 600Mhz CPU from Qualcomm.  It has FM radio, AMOLED HVGA screen and it will be running the HTC Sense on the latest Android 2.1.

HTC Legend takes Android 2.1 to a new level with HTC Sense

Singapore – 25 March, 2010 – HTC Corporation, a global designer of smartphones, today introduced an enhanced HTC Sense experience that will be available on its latest addition of smartphones that take Android to the next level, the HTC Legend.

HTC SENSE
HTC Sense is a user experience focused on putting people at the centre by making phones work in a more simple and natural way. This experience revolves around three fundamental principles that were developed by observing and listening to how people live and communicate. These core tenets of Make It Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected continue to be the key to the new HTC Sense experience.

The new HTC Sense experience continues to focus on improving your interactions with your most important people.  This begins with a new HTC application and widget called Friend Stream that seamlessly aggregates all of your social communication including Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr into one organised flow of updates. This simple aggregation makes it easier than ever to focus on what friends are doing as well as to view the images and links that they share.  In addition to Friend Stream, people can be organised into specific social circles, such as groups of friends, colleagues or any other way that makes sense.

The new HTC Sense experience also introduces broad improvements to applications including the browser, email client and others. In addition, the new version of HTC Sense includes a new newsreader application and widget, as well as a new seven-screen ‘Leap’ thumbnail view for quick and easy access to specific screens.

HTC Legend
Built around a newly enhanced HTC Sense, the HTC Legend boasts a unique design with a smooth, continuous surface, machined from a single aluminum block into a seamless compact frame.  To complement its looks, the HTC Legend includes a stunning 3.2 inch, AMOLED HVGA display.  The traditional trackball has also been replaced with an optical joystick, surrounded by a narrow button to improve usability without interrupting its unique design.

Pricing & Availability
The new HTC Legend will be available in early April at all authorized resellers at a suggested retail price of S$798*. Standard retail HTC Legend package will come with a 2GB microSD™ card.

Engadget has published a full review of the handset.  The Legend is a successor of the highly successful Hero from HTC.  It has similar design like the Hero with some improvements like faster processor (600Mhz Qualcomm chip), the AMOLED screen , FM radio, optical trackpad (debatable), still camera, the new goodies and performance boost in Sense UI

Waiting to buy the new HTC phones that were announced during MWC?  The UK online retailer expansys has published the prices and availability date for the 3 new phones from HTC.

HTC Desire will cost you 439.99 Sterling Pound (USD 680), Legend will cost 389.99 (USD600), and the HD mini will cost 339.99 (USD525).  And they are due on 12th of April.

So start saving and your count down to the date.

The Legend comes with similar look and specs like HTC Hero.  However, it is now packed with a faster processor, 600Mhz CPU, and an aluminium cover.  It is more durable than the Hero.  During the presentation of the phone by HTC, the phone was smashed to a wall and it was still functioning after that (I am sure I won’t do that to my phone).

And, as you will expect, the Legend is coming with Android 2.1 with the latest Sense.  Other than this, it comes with the following:

• 5MP camera.
• Optical trackpad.
• GPS, G Sensor, compass, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor.
• HVGA AMOLED screen.

The Legend will be available in Europe in April and Asia will follow after that.

According to a tipster of AndroidCommunity, the specs of Legend will be:

• 3.2-inch capacitive HVGA AMOLED display
• 5-megapixel camera with LED flash
• WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, microSD card slot and GPS/AGPS
• 1300mAh battery
• Quad-band GSM and dual-band UMTS/HSDPA
• Digital compass, G-Sensor, 3.5mm Audio jacket, microUSB port
• It uses a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM 7227 processor

If you like HTC Hero, this is something you will like too.  It carries the same form factor of HTC Hero and more.  No price and available date for now.

According to rumours, this phone will carry about the same specs and design as the HTC Hero.  And it is regarded as the successor of HTC Here.  The Legend shown in the picture is spotted to have aluminium case and optical joystick.  This is still a preproduction unit and the final product could be different.

The UI in the picture is still having the existing Sense UI look without any changes and we are not able to see the new Sense running on Android 2.1.  Anyway, I will keep an eye on the development and give you updates when it is available.

Bravo: The super Android phone everybody is waiting for. It has a  Snapdragon QSD 8250 1GHz CPU, HD 720p Video caprure, 3.7″ WVGA AMOLED screen, 256RAM (it will be increased to 512Mb accoridng to some latest inside info) with 16GB MicroSD card in-box, and 1400mAh battery capacity.  And it is coming in April, 2010.  There will not be a Dragon phone as previous rumoured, according to the author of the article.  And the Bravo is “THE PHONE”.

It looks like HTC is releasing more Android phones then WinMo phone during the first half of 2010.  I guess with the recent release of the HD2, HTC will be focusing on Android phones for a while.  And to me, the Bravo phone will be the next BIG thing from HTC.
