Motorola DROID to get Android 2.1 upgrade by this week
Feb 9th
This is earlier than expected, Motorola has officially mentioned in its Facebook page that DROID will get the Android 2.1 treatment by this week.
Here is the scoop and note that there are some differences compared to the Android 2.1 of Nexus One:
- It looks like it’ll be based off the Android2.1-update1 build that Google put out last week on the Nexus One.
- So do expect multitouch in the browser, to go along with the pinch-to-zoom that was enabled on the Droid for Google Maps just last week.
- Google Goggles will be included in the ROM by default.
- The Droid’s home screen remains as is – it still uses the app drawer
- No live wallpapers.
- The news and weather widget from the Nexus One will be included
I am wondering whether the upgrade will be rolled out to MILESTONE users at the same time. Nevertheless, DROID users, enjoy the upgrade and join the world of Android 2.1.

Google Nexus One to get multitouch outsie US?
Jan 8th
That’s a piece of good news to those who stay outside US. The Google Nexus will have multitouch enabled when it is sold outside US.
According to heise.de, a test unit of the Nexus One in Germany shows it is able to do pinch and zoom on the screen. It is the same story like Motorola‘s DROID and MILESTONE. And it is unlike those units previously saw in US that 2 fingers operations on the screen are not possible.
I guess Google is avoiding a law suit situation from Apple when it is released in US. Or may be it is an agreement between Google and Apple that Google will not release multitouch stuffs in US.
I have just ordered a Nexus One from Google web site and it is to be shipped to Singapore. I am crossing my fingers now that I will get a unit with multitouch enabled.

Motorola DROID and CLIQ to get Android 2.1 also
Jan 7th
Does the just-released, powered by Android 2.1 Google Nexus One make you jealous?
Motorola has just announced a good news to the DROID (a.k.a. MILESTONE) and CKIQ (DEXT) users, the Android 2.1 will be available on these 2 phones as well. You will be enjoying the goodies that the Android 2.1 has and the fantastic hardware from Motorola.
The other good news is that Motorola is working hard to bring the Flash 10.1 to the platforms as well. So do expect a full working Flash 10.1 to be available soon.

A new DROID by Motorola?
Dec 4th
Just after the Motoroal Sholes Tablet was discovered a while ago, somebody spotted another Motorola Android Device in China. And it looks like a DROID without a keyboard.
This is also apparently a full touchscreen device that features an 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual LED flash, 3.8 inch display, 800 MHz processor and has a sleek black, rounded appearance.
If you like Motorola DROID (MILESTONE) and wish it has no keyboard, this might be the device you are waiting for.

O2 Germany starts selling Motorola MILESTONE (DROID) for 1 EURO with 2 years contract
Nov 18th
For a contract of 2 years with 20 EURO a month, the O2 Germany subscribers can take the Motorola MILESTONE (DROID) home for 1 EURO.
The deal means you are paying 481 EURO over 2 years for the phone. And it sounds like a good deal to me. I hope we can get a similar deal when it reaches Asia.
The different of MILESTONE with DROID (sold in US) are the lack of Google Navigation, but it comes with multitouch that is missing in DROID.
Go get one if you happen to be in Germany.
The link to O2 is here.
